A second recommendation for Burgers!
Thank you, zataar. Well, that’s pretty well convinced me to stop by on the Monday. They had been my first choice of the three that I was able to find.
The third one that I was able to find was Tripp Country Ham and Bacon, in Brownsville, Tennessee, quite a bit further out of our way.
I had come across their website and put it on Favorites. They’re certainly not too far out of the way. I’m glad to hear they’ve got good bacon and ham. The only drawback is that if we leave here on schedule, we’ll be passing by there on Sunday, and they’re closed.
I’ve also came across a website for Swiss Meat and Sausage in Hermann, Missouri. They’re also closed on Sunday, in the winter.
Maybe we’ll have to leave a day later …
I second NebGuy’s link. My husband’s aunt has worked there for years, my in laws grew up with the Burgers, and we have been the recipient of lots of Burger’s Smokehouse ham, bacon and turkey. It’s a great place. It’s in California, MO, not that far off the interstate. Definitely worth the short detour.
Might be out of your way a bit but these folks do some good ham and bacon among other things.

When driving to Florida this winter, we want to pick up some country ham, or smoked ham and smoked bacon along the way. Does anyone know if there are any smokehouses, etc. along I-70 from Kansas City to St. Louis, or along I-55 south through Memphis within an approximate 50-mile radius of the interstate?
Ordinarily, we stop in Kentucky, but we’re planning a different route this year, through New Orleans.
Country Ham, Smoked Ham/Bacon
