The Shebeen…………This is an excellent suggestion
……………….the South African version of meatloaf is out of this world and the fish and chips are outstanding……..a fun place to dine.

If you need munchies, head to Bogey’s Bagels in Charlottesville in the heart of downtown. The only place I’ve found outside NYC that makes water bagels.
Field, we don’t know our schedule precisely yet. We are picking up a car in DC and decided to take I-81 back to ATL rather than I-85. Had planned to spend a few hours in DC, drive to Charlottesville or Staunton, stay the night and head back the next A.M. It may be either the 11th or 12th. We also have to prepare for a new grandchild which could disrupt the schedule anywhere from TODAY until ??? I was hoping it could arrive last week but you never know. If and when the schedule gets more definite, I’ll advise. We just don’t know the time frames yet. The Mill Street Grill looks interesting, thanks for the info.
Hello All,
Oneiron339, if your will to travel about 25 miles north of Staunton, visit us in the Bridgewater, Dayton, and
Harrisonburg area.
Dayton has Dove’s Drive In with good burgers and fries, and also The Thomas House which offers some of the
best home-cookin’ by some great Mennonite lady cooks. I’ve ate at both and like them.
In Bridgewater, there is an excellent place, the North River Grill…http://northrivergrill.com/ The food is
superior and the atmosphere very good, especially if you dine at night when they have musicians playing.
Harrisonburg has so many places…Jesses’ Quick Lunch Downtown (another location near I-81, but the downtown location is the real thing) for hot dogs and burgers, Dave’s Taverna, Bar-B-Q Ranch, and more..see more and
be sure to check out all the pages at http://harrisonburg.va.golookon.com/menuguide?start=30
In Staunton the Mill Street Grill is good…http://www.millstreetgrill.com/home.htm
My schedule is crazy, but it would be good to meet you if you decide to hit my area.
Take Care,
Fieldthistle
Will be visiting this area in a few weeks. Any good roadfood places? I know about Dude’s and Dairy Rite, but would like to hear of some more variety.
