Calgary – Banff Alberta
Between Calgary and Banff is a little town called Canmore that has lots of great places to eat. We love the steaks at Patrino’s and it has great views of the mountains. Try Evvia’s downtown for Greek food and The Sherwood House for pizza.
Thanks, folks. I’ll comment when I get back if I don’t freeze up there.
Michael hit on all the good places I know of. But may I recommend the Glenbow Museum and Dinosaur Park in the Badlands as must-see attractions.

These are some of the Hoodoos in the Badlands.
The Lake Louise Youth Hostel has a great little restaurant with prices that are unheard of for the area. The portions are monsterous too. From what I can remember there is a lot of pizza, salads, sandwiches and bottled beer. I recommend a ice cold bottle of Kokanee (sp). If you are heading to BC at all and want spend a bit more I recommend the Emerald Lake Lodge dining room or Cilantro on the Lake on the lodges property. Emerald Lake is located right outside of Field, BC. In my opinion it is THE BEST place in the whole area to spend a few days…waaaaay better than the Chateau or the Banff Springs.
Oh, yes, superb hamburgers atRocky’s Burger Bus, fried chicken at Chicken on the Way, sausage sandwiches at Spolumbo’s, fancy (but cheap sandwiches) at Wild Sage … and for a pricier meal, Alberta beef at The River Cafe.
Will be in Calgary over New Year’s. Outside of Peterson’s Drive-in, anybody recommend any roadfood places in the area?
