……And what you think about the concept that is 100 procent organic.
Did any of you peopel did the same with organic food

In America, people who are buying from a street vendor aren’t worried about “organic”. They want to “treat” themselves to something that they don’t enjoy on a regular basis. The market in Denmark may be different, this is just my opinion.

But then again, organic may not mean “low fat”. Fat = taste = money

A steamer will not make your bread crispy.  It makes it warm and soft.  You need a griddle or grill for crispy bread. Hot dogs are not generally though of as being healthy. It might be different in Denmark.  We can’t really tell you what your customers would want except that they want food that tastes good at a reasonable price. And listen to your customers.  They will tell you what they want but don’t be afraid to introduce them to new tastes and combinations.  Last summer, when we first came to this small town in New Mexico, many of the people here did not know what sauerkraut was. This summer, sauerkraut is outsells chili.  But the Pueblo Indians still won’t touch it.

Hi Erik-When I think of organic, I don’t think hot dogs. Every once and a while, someone on this site brings organic up. I don’t think I would spend a lot of time or money making organic part of my message to potential customers. I think people that are interested in organic food don’t think of hot dogs. I don’t speak from experience, just my thoughts. Many people come to my cart and say their spouse doesn’t approve normally, but what the heck, they want to have a good old hot dog!
Good luck and keep us informed.

Oooohhh crunchy onions! Like the ones on green bean casserole?

Yup, about the same, I remember my mom used to get so mad at me cause I’d eat a whole can of those like a bag of chips.  But they have this neat little dispenser, put the dog under, give it a couple turns and it sprinkles a nice even coating of crispy onions.  Love um.

If you do not have a steam table, a simple chinese steamer on a propane hot plate will do the job.  You can stack these up to about 8 high, they are available in stainless rather than the traditional bamboo.  So are you doing yours with the Danish crunchy onions as a topping?  Every time I’m in Singapore I stop by a Danish hot dog stand near my hotel, they have this neat little rotary dispenser that sprinkles the dog with the crunchy onions.  Love em!

Hi Erik.  Okay, does your cart have a steam table? I use 3rd pans in mine. I use 2 regular 6 inch deep 3rd pans for the dogs and toppings and a 4 inch deep perforated 3rd pan to steam the buns to order. Hope that helps you.

Hi Erik, and welcome to Roadrood. The sausage and bread dressing would be a Sausage and bun right???????? If so do you want to grill/toast the buns??????????? most of the doggers steam the buns on the Hot dog cart…………..Are you going to do”ristet polse” or a French Hot Dog ????? If your going to need to toast, then you could use a toaster oven, if electric is available, if not a flat grill could be used to heat/toast the bread……….Take care and good luck……BillyB

…..The danish hotdogs stands are getting less and less in number because it have reputation of unhealthy food.
I think in the future maybe this also hit you…….

If organic is the future, I will adjust my menu when that time comes. As long as it isn’t a government ban on hot dogs, and a true shift in customer demand, I’ll be fine with it.

    Erik,
Sorry, didn’t mean to bring out such a defensive issue. By all means go organic if you want. I really think a person can be more successful if they truly believe in their product. I’m sure you would find it distasteful to eat the standard hot dog from my cart. My fellow vendors and I are pretty lucky that millions of US people feel different. I think all 10 items that you listed are valid, they just usually don’t translate into profits. One more suggestion, If you are asking other peoples opinions, it might be better to just ignore any that you don’t agree with rather than rebutting them with a long list of why you think they are wrong. Good luck to again.

    Hi all here.
Am a new member from Denmark.

I found this wery nice forum here with “hotdog peopel”[8D]

I am starting a propane hotdog cart very soon here in denmark with 100% organic sausages bread dressings.

Every thing is almost ready but i have a small problem.

I need a bread heater. How do you warm the breads, do some have a simpel solution for this.

I first thinking of buying this simpel Coleman Camp Oven
But maybe it will use to much propane in the long run.

Then i look at this one Coleman Instastart Oven . But am not sure if it will work in denmark because of the fittings and the presseure on the propane. In denmark the regulator gives 30 Mbar.

Does anyone have good solution for this problem.

Sorry if my English it not too good.

I try to insert links to the oven but they disappears
