Used to get them all the time…Not too bad, but prefer Gardenburger also..like several others here…
One thing I have not tried is their "sausage" patties…
Anyone tried them?
I have Tara. They are pretty darn good. Links aren’t so hot but the patties taste close to real sausage.
Thanks Neb…
(glad to see you here again![;)])

I prefer the Gardenburger or Morning Star over Boca. The trick is to not even for a second think they are a substitute for a Hamburger, same with turkey burgers, they are something entirely different to eat. Gardenburger makes a Black Bean urger that I love but my wife….not so much! My last few inventions are to break the burgers into smaller bite size pieces and make sof tacos with the usual ingredients.
I’ve tried about 5 of the most prominent veggie burgers and Dr. Praeger’s are by far the best I’ve had. I broil them in the toaster oven and they stay more moist and have more flavor then any other veggie burger I have had. Another plus is that they are relatively cheap ($4 a 4 pack box). I’m not sure if they sell them nationwide, but can get them at Stop & Shop in CT.
I much prefer gardenburger if I want a burger but I use morningstar farms for my veggie sausage 🙂

They’re made with mushrooms.

Have you tried Burger King’s Veggie burger-its not bad-flame broiled!
I am a huge fan of both (and I’m not a vegetarian)! They have different varieties that taste like different things – one version actually tastes more like chicken fried steak to me. I would suggest that if one flavor doesn’t do it for you to try the other varieties.
The biggest problem I had with them at first is the lack of "body" of the burger part. However, this can be overcome.
As to preparation – toast your buns, because that will help add substance and "chew factor" to your sandwich. If you don’t toast your buns, the sandwich is too soft altogether IMHO. Also, put on crunchy lettuce, crisp onions, and firm tomato slices. A little mustard, mayo and ketchup, and you’ll find they can be quite tasty.
Also, as with most of these "fake meat" things, I find they hold up better if you cook them thoroughly. Patiently fry them on your stovetop, and you’ll find you enjoy them a lot more than if you microwave them.
Believe it or not, I prefer these to most fast-food burgers and they feel better in my tummy when my Beloved fixes them that way.
Also, if you’ll forgive the digression, the Morningstar corn dogs and BBQ riblets and also quite delicious and easy on your digestive system. You also have to cook them thoroughly – we do the corn dogs in our toaster oven until they are golden brown and crispy, with some mustard on the side for dipping. The BBQ riblets are the only veggie things we’ve found work well in the microwave, provided you really give them a solid two minutes per on high. We generally eat the corndogs at least once per weekend (often twice). They only cost about 75 cents a dog, and no guilt!
Probably more info than you wanted, but someone finally asked a question I could answer![:0]
I’ve had Boca Burgers. As long as you remain fully aware of the fact that what you are eating is in no way a burger then they’re not bad, especially if you dress them with something like an excellent horseradish sauce or really good mustard.
I would like to find the "old" Garden Burgers, like they used to sell at Costco in a plastic tube/bag. They were much bigger than the ones that everyone sells now. Yes Boca Burger are not very good Garden Burgers are much better
Another vote for Garden Burgers!
We had them for dinner the other night because I didn’t feel like cooking. What a mistake that was. I developed a rash that wouldn’t stop itching until I took prednisone. I think it was because of the 2 mystery ingredients at the end of the list. Somehow I think they add up to MSG. I prefer the Gardenburgers, especially the portobella mushroom ones.
I have tried them, but much prefer Gardenburger. Most of their products don’t try to be fake meat.
