the ancient mariner
You know something Jim, U R write or should that be wright? I forgot.
Groucho was the very best. But what do the kids of today know? They
never heard of the Marx Brothers. Or the Ritz Brothers or even the
Smothers Brothers, Right ??? Even if a duck came down and hit them
in the head !!!!!
I guess Alex Trebek is the only one I like today and Pat Sajak is
awful, he is a condescending jerk, almost as bad as Regis on the
Millionaire. But it is a good paying job for Pat so what can you say.
Gene Rayburn was outstanding and worked so well with the panel, and I always thought Monty Hall did a very good job on "Let’s Make A Deal".
Excellent timing of the thread. Wisconsin Public Television has been running the"Pioneers of Television" series this month and tonight’s episode is about game shows.
I think Alex Trebek does a excellent job on Jeopardy!
Davydd-I believe you are thinking of the show Twenty One.
I do my best to avoid game shows. So I would not know. I might watch 5 minutes out of curiosity to see what it is about. The prevues on some upcoming shows involving personal questions are absolutely disgusting and I wonder what is wrong with people. I probably have not watched a game show all the way through since the $64,000 Question debacle. I think that was the show that had the rigged question scandal.
There was only one superb game show host GROCHO
Go ahead I’ll let someone else say it. Chow Jim
I’ve been spending a little too much time with Game Show Network …
I come to the realization that there are game show hosts and superb games show hosts.
In the superb category in my opinion:
– Gene Rayburn (Match Game)
– Pat Sajak (Wheel of Fortune)
– Howie Mandel (Deal or No Deal)
I base that on their ability to keep the show interesting and moving along while interacting with guests/contestants.
Just below superb:
– Meredith Viera (Millionaire)
Any others to add to the list?
Best Game Show Emcees ???
