I don’t need tacos darlin’. I’m right down the street(relatively) in the Rogue Valley.
The Texas bbq came reccomended to me by a BBQer. Don’t care about Carolina Cue either, as we’re 3000 miles away and I’ve never been there.

I don’t know about the Texas BBQ. I like my BBQ from central North Carolina and am always disappointed anywhere else. If you’re in NC, go to Bullock’s in Durham (don’t miss the banana pudding with meringue on top! to die for!). Allen and Son N of Chapel Hill is pretty good, too. S of CH isn’t as good.

But as for tacos…come to the bend farmer’s market (May-Oct, Wed near downtown, Fri @ St Charles Med Ctr) or an Old Mill Amphitheatre concert and there’s this awesome taco stand….the only one there, I think, with great pico de gallo and your choice of chicken, pork, or steak. Best I’ve had in years. I go every week after the farmer’s market. He does not have a storefront but does do catering. If only I could remember his name…

There’s a good {authentic) Mexican restaurant in Terrebonne just North of the Smith Rocks turnoff. I think la Siesta is the name. (It has been a few years since I’ve been there) I had cactus (nopalitas) there for the first time in my life (but definitely not the last time). Quite good and memorable. It is a Mom & Pop restaurant so it does fit the Roadfood category.

Go to Deschutes Brewery for great food and beer. Cascade lakes brewing Co would be my second pick. McMenamins food is definitely nothing special (they serve tater tots-ugh!) but their happy hour menu is cheap, if that’s what you like.

I lived in Chapel Hill for about 30 years but now reside here in Bend and LOVE it!

Let me know if you go to Eugene, OR!

Thank you and WELCOME TO ROADFOOD.

I need to do a late lunch tomorrow … I’ll be with a friend who is comfortable in taverns, is a non-smoker and good food is a must … ideally I can have a Guinness.

Claire … Chapel Hill, NC ???

    24? 8? 3? 20?

Seeing how I am stranded here, I wonder if there is any good place to eat.

    I’ll try Pilot Butte again.

    Anybody know any place unique?
