The New York Yankees soon will buy their 28th. World Championship by signing Gerrit Cole.
Like Cole will, take that to the bank.
Mrs. Chicken and I are hoping to see the White Sox hang a loss on the Yankees:
Hopefully MLB will do the Right Thing and offer the tickets to only Midwesterners at first.
Cole will need a fleet of Brinks trucks!
And establish residence in Georgetown, Grand Cayman.
Yeah, but those other teams will gladly take the money from the large crowds when the Yankees are in town…to say nothing of profit-sharing!
One does not, of course. That would be useful, and useful features are actively discouraged here.
SC, thanks for responding.
I was expecting only echoes.
An entertaining story about a college team and the effect it had on today’s game:
Enough of how Joey Fingers played third base back in the ’90’s; when is the real thing going to start?
Still beaming after last Fall’s Championship run! Go Nats! You can’t bring me down with your NYY stories!
I’m sorry but all of those Yankees championships cannot compare to the Cubs title of 2016 I experienced. It was like the greatest orgasm in history. We had the most emotional win you could ever have. Winning in the 10th inning of Game 7 with everything that could go wrong meant more, the parade and rally (one of the largest gatherings in human history even with a second MLB team in town) meant more, going by Wrigley Field to see every inch of it covered in chalk with names of family members that have passed was beyond anything a Yankee fan can understand. I had someone take a photo of me holding a severed fake goat’s head. Even the weather cooperated. It was early November but it might as well have been spring. Low 60’s, Cubbie blue skies (not a cloud), they dyed the Chicago River Cubbie blue, most schools closed, it was incredible. 108 years gone. My father was a fan of the 1945 NL pennant winners. His favorite player on that team was Andy Pafko. He died in 2014 so he missed this. We’ve had rallies for the Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, and Sox – but nothing could compare to the emotion and spectacle of this. I have to admit – could it have been any other way? Coming back from 3 games to 1, blowing the lead in the 7th game and going to extras with a rain delay after the 9th? The Red Sox won in 2004 in a sweep. The White Sox won in 2005 in a sweep. We win in Game 7 and have to go through hell to get there!
That being said – I would love to play the Yankees in the World Series. Thought it looks like the White Sox are becoming a contender so don’t get too comfy. You don’t win on paper do you Stanton? A Cubs – White Sox series would put me in the hospital.
Congrats Nats on beating the Houston cheaters and overcoming a horrible start to the season! Too bad it wasn’t the Expos. No offense.
