It depends on if I’m cooking for my mom or my SO. My SO isn’t offended, exactly, but confused and less likely to compliment me if I’ve just tossed something together because we’re hungry. He gets it, because he cooks too, but he isn’t happy when I cheat (probably because more often than not I end up making something from a box because leftovers are rare with us). Mom, on the other hand, at least once a month says something to the effect of "you know, the seafood lasagna with homemade garlic-cheese rolls is great, but could you maybe just broil a steak and microwave a potato tomorrow?". [:D]

Today I made a huge vat of chili, so everyone’s happy.

Unabashed, I totally know what you mean, it happened tonight to me.
I normally make a very good supper but, sometimes I don’t ‘feel’ like cooking ( not feeling inspired ).
I took beef cubes & scrappy pieces (raw) leftovers from cutting up a huge rib roast ( baked New Years) and cooked them with fresh mushrooms ,onions & asst.spices, made a pot of rice and also made cooked carrots with honey. I thought it looked & tasted ok 🙂
My family looked at me like ????? and ate, I think they ate out of hunger hahaha
I will be making fried chicken thighs and fried taters w/onions tomorrow night for supper…they will be happy again hahaha

This just happened to me tonight and I thought I’d put it out there and see if it happens to anyone else…
Yesterday I made Roastbeef A’jus with scalloped potatoes stuffing Garden green beans (last frozen bag from 07 season)
So tonight I find out I’ll be on the road awhile tomorrow so to be safe I’ll throw a soup together quickly and the kids can have soup/sand for dinner tomorrow night……well took the a’jus and leftover roast cubed meat poured 2 cans of beef broth in added some onion celery seed when it came to boil added some egg noodles turned off heat and hit it with some parsley and fresh cracked black…..
    I’m done in 20…..
well heres the topic……wife eats some and says this is not your soup I’m like no its just a simple soup a throw together……that blowed her right out of her chair…..
I guess I’ll try to get to the point I’ve been off work for awhile(messed my back up) so I’m home and always make sure they have a great meal everynight….but anymore its like it has to be awesum or they frown…..
so to get back to the ? If your a really good cook and sometimes get lazy and just put together a quick one … do you get the WTF look???? I’m not angry with my wife when I met her I was the soup chef at Baycity….and I make some really great soups and I am glad she is honest thats what I expect……but does anyone else go threw this kinda crap?
nuff said I’m rambling on to much MakersMark I guess….
