I moved over to the tire shop and popped off $100+ in 40 minutes. Even had customers from my other location come looking for me. My cheese steaks are still a hit and I am pooped. It was around 28 degrees and they were lining up. Just got home and still need to do my cleaning and put the wagon in the garage.

    Mike,
kinda makes you wish you could be at two places at once huh. LOL I hate that feeling. Gets my head churning.

Way off here too, it has been in the 20’s, but still worth going out. I think I will move over to another spot next week, Belle Tire across the street from Home Depot, busiest intersection in town. The guys from Belle came over today begging me to come back, they miss the food right outside the door. When I am not in my usual spot, that is where everyone goes to look for me because I have set up there before. I think I will be able to get close to doubling my daily take by heading back over there. Shot in the dark, but worth a try and built in customer base.

i’m in central fla. and its bad here too! i’ve talked to allot of business people around this area and they say it’s always a little slow this time of year. but this is ridiculous! i’m down 30-40% of just 2-3 weeks ago.. this and still being only open for about 6 mos now… we are pretty vulnerable to this and can easily be put out of business!

Thx for the input… fyi its been between 27 and 31 in the am the past few days and the high of maybe 55 so for fla-BRRRR!  I did get a few more this morning but for fl its cold and people i guess just dont move here until it hits atleast 70! I did get some requests today for some lima beans ham n rice (something warm) so i wonder if i might do a special along those lines a couple of days to boost sales.  Guess no one wants a hotdog in the cold.

yea same here, today was iffy. I made $3 less than a $100. from 11-4  Tomorrow I introduce my pulled pork bbq sandwiches. they do extremely well at the auction I do on Mondays. I had a 3 ft sign made to let ppl know I had them at my normal spot. Can’t wait to see what happens.

How did the pulled pork go…WD?

Saturday was decent for a debut. 10 out, and Sunday was slow but did about the same 10 on the bbq. I’m looking forward to putting my sign out during the week to see what happens. I’ll probably see more action towards the end of the week with it as the regular passer by’s see it a few days. I got a 3’x 2′ sign made that says ” pulled pork bbq, Italian sausage, subs, & more with some stars.

A local hot dog vendor was talking to me yesterday (at the thrift store) about something that came here from Florida and was a hit…called a matzoh sandwich. But between him making fun of the way I say maaht zaaaaah and the fact that I just found J Crew leather jacket to take to consignment (for charity) I was very distracted.

We will try again tomorrow because he is taking the winter off…and he knows where to find me in the morning.

Well Mike, when it gets into 40s here people freeze their butts and tend to stay inside.  lol

KBB, my experience is that days after a holiday weekend are usually slower.  I’m working on a store to set up in front of some evenings until Christmas.  Windy days tend to be slower for me, too.  It’s certainly been that lately.

Hang on, it will get better.  My issue is that 80% of my customer base goes on vacation.  Three companies lock up for a week.  My last week of December has been so slow in past years, I’ve decided to go on vacation this year.  I can make no money either way, so I’m going for the fun one.

I’m definitely coming back after the new year with some major freebie action!  People like free.

I understand being slower in the cold regions but in Jacksonville? Maybe just natural sales fluctuation? Maybe the next month will be better? KBB, can you do some gorilla marketing? i.e. flyers, buy 10 get one free punch cards. Have little coupons that look like currency printed that say “lucky dog bill” good for a free hot dog and “hide” them around town. Lots of good ideas for gorilla marketing. Use your imagination and keep at it. A bad few weeks does not a business make! [;)] Good luck.

Friday’s are always my money maker…..today was the slowest day I have had all week!   The few people that did eat today were very generous with the tips…about $30 today….

Sucks here too… down 30-40 %… But I have snow, ice, and very cold temps to contend with along with all the others mentioned.
