diezbi, just to add to signman’s recommendation, here’s a repeat from a previous thread on RF:
IMHO, Pierce’s Pitt (note the double "t") has some of the best que in Virginia. When oldest daughter was in school at W-burg, QFan and the Mrs were regulars there. They use only fresh pork shoulders cooked over hickory. For their sandwiches they hand chop the pork and mix it w/ their OUTSTANDING sauce which is very tangy. I always bring home 3 or 4 extra bottles when we stop there; can’t seem to get enough of it. In fact I’m just finishing up my stash from last summer’s visit and you can order their stuff (sauce and que) over the net. Pierce’s is right on I-64 so don’t miss it if you’re in the Tidewater area. By the way, welcome to Roadfood. You’ll find this is a great site with lots of terrific people and information.

I find myself about to take an unanticipated jaunt down to the Williamsburg area tomorrow and am not aware of any good Q places in the area. Does anyone out there know of some good bbq that’s been flying under the radar, or for that matter any other exceptional road food? (I’m also posting this general question in the general road food section too.)
Any good Q in eastern Virginia?
