No, not the Acme Wile E. Coyote patronizes – Acme Oyster House of New Orleans
I didn’t know they already had several locations but I’ll be looking forward to trying this. They’re taking over the space vacated by El Real, Robb Walsh-consulted homage to classic Tex-Mex and the best Tex-Mex I ever had.
I was sad to see El Real shutter and haven’t found another place I like as much. Locals are worried about preserving the historic space (late 1930’s Art Deco movie house where GWTW premiered and, as a live venue, the first stage show of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, before it went to Broadway), especially the façade, but El Real also made apt use of the interior, running old B&W Westerns from film and TV on the wall where the screen once hung.
If you’re going to lose a Tex-Mex classic, there’s nothing better to replace it with than Cajun, Creole, and oysters!
