Thanks, Lone Star! That’s good news, ’cause that’ll be even closer for me than the San Antonio shops. I ADORE those Pig Sandwiches. [:p]
After reading your post, I searched and found this article that talks of the opening in Seguin and gives a little Pig Stand history:
For any of you travelling Texas…
I was surprised to see a new Pig Stand open on I-10 at Seguin on our trip home from the Frio river yesterday.
Fortunately, it was lunch time, so we stopped. My kids were introduced to one of the finest chicken-fried steak sandwiches, as well as the famous "Pig Sandwich" with those huge onion rings.
The interior, while not as "gritty" as the one I frequent in the Heights, stayed true to form with a horshoe counter, black and white tile floor, and booths, no tables. They had the little individual juke boxes at each booth as well. There were also photographs all around the place of the Pig Stands through the years that were fun to look at.
Recommend it to any weary roadfooder headin to San Antonio.
The Pig Stands have been in business in Texas since 1921.
