The 26th works for me as well.
Really wish I could participate! My daughter and I are stymied by a lack of transportation though. We’re still trying to figure a way to get to Lexington Market for a visit. Seems like we’re going to have to do that on a week day when we can take the MARC train there and back–which is still a pricey proposition. No MARC trains on Saturday. For the first meet, we took the Metrobus to BWI, then caught a cab to G&M. Can’t afford to do that again, it was too expensive!! Still, I’ll keep an eye on this thread–those crabcakes are excellent!
If there are any meets in the DC area, particularly in DC, the subway system here is an excellent way of getting around. *laughs* We did try out Ben’s Chili Bowl last May and the dogs were good (though a bit pricey for dogs, imo!!).
I’m fine with just setting August 26th as the date and inviting all Roadfooders to Baltimore for Crabcakes and baseball (optional of course).
I would propose meeting around noon or so at G&M http://www.gandmcrabcakes.com where we can socialize and dine, then heading Downtown to Lexington Market, (fresh Berger cookies for dessert), and then the ballgame for anyone who is interested.
I don’t think getting wheelchair access seats would be any problem. The Market and Ballpark are very convenient to the Holiday Inn on Lombard Street. G&M is near BWI airport SW of Downtown.
Hello signman ,
The 26th is better for me as I have a function on the 19th .
I love the idea of adding the O’s game after wards .
If my brother in law comes along we would have to get wheelchair access seats for him . Last time at O’s game he said it was the best set up of all the stadiums he has been to .
Would everything be walking distance to the inner harbor , if so we stayed at the Holiday Inn last time , very convienent to the stadium.
If you get a definite date by the Hot Dog tour I will pass along to everyone.
Only games that are difficult to get are Yankees and Red Sox. Just let me know. I’ll be happy to do what I can.
Here’s a thought, why don’t we try to do a Saturday where we could meet around lunchtime, then head to an Orioles game. All Saturday games are at 4:35 PM. That would still allow time for daytrippers to get home that evening.
We could also pay a visit to Lexington Market which is just blocks from Oriole Park and features Faidley’s crab cake and shrimp salad from Mary Mervis Delicatessen.
How does August 26 (Tampa) or August 19 (Toronto) look?
I may take you up on the Orioles Game tickets.
Depending on times put me down for a Crabstock meet . I have heard only great things about the first two.
Thanks for the tip on Boogs beef . Will definetly have to try it next time .
Can’t go to an Oriole game without stopping by Boogs .
I will let you know when my schedule wwill allow me to visit the Big B for an O’s game.
Depending on the timing, we are definitely in again this year. Maybe late summer would be better? Only weekends bad for us that I can forsee are June 10th and 17th – we’ll be on vacation in Cape Cod. Sue
Am definitly interested
Just contact me directly.
How might I avail myself of a pair of these tickets??? Boy did you open yourself up on this one…
I usually make it once a year for a game.
I missed the first one because I was away on spring break. I’d be up for it even if it is a small group. I live in the area so I’m flexible on the timing.
Oops! You’re right, I forgot the horseradish! I knew there was something missing [:p]
No pit beef sandwich is complete without horseradish.
ribs are not exactly the thing to do in Baltimore. I haven’t tried Boog’s pit beef, but Chap’s Pit Beef on Rye with raw onions, and a spritz of mayo and bbq sauce definetely is the way to go. So is their fresh cut fryes loaded up with cider vinegar and old bay! [:p]
Not sure if I can join the Crab Fest this year. I already have a three day weekend trip back to New York, in fact I’ll also be meeting up there with a friend visiting from Seattle that I haven’t seen in 8 years. Sadly thats the same weekend of Jane and Michael’s New England Fried Clam trip that I’m going to miss[:(]
Then of course I have my So Cal/Phoenix/Vegas baseball trip in 7 weeks!
Benzee, At Boog’s Pit Beef is the thing. It’s decent, but of course very overpriced. Just let me know if you ever come to town for a game. I can get you tickets too.
Meantime everyone else, let me know if you are interested in Crabstock III
