Hop in the old ’79 Dodge Powerwagon and make your way to Austin my man. I’d love to see you. And there will be plenty Lafayette Parish andouille in that gumbo.

I’ve tried to post a reply and it showed up briefly, but I went back to edit it and now it’s gone. Attempts to repost yields a message that the post already exists.

    I’ll try again later.

79 Power Wagon. Nah, not me. Is that when they started prettifying them up to appeal to women?????

If I had a Power Wagon it’d have to be one of these beauties:

I used to drool over a WW II surplus model that sat outside an Army Navy Surplus store out on the highway when I was a kid. What a cool ride that would have been to show up at high school driving.

And whatever happened to Army Navy Surplus stores, anyway. Those were cool places to while away a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon when I was a kid.

Oops. Now back to your topic.

Like I said, everything sounds real good but there’s no way I can make that kind of trip. Sorry.

I’d kill for a Powerwagon of any vintage. And yeah, we used to hang out at an Army surplus store in Alabaster, Alabama that was run by an old soldier of Fortune from Rhodesia named Nick. You know he loved having a bunch of wiry teenage boys to tell his tall tales to. Hate that you’ll miss the pop up but it’s a bit of a haul from Houston to Austin. I’ll have a field report up in a couple weeks.
