Reading the description of the Northwestern Steakhouse in Mason City made me regret that I missed it on my only trip there (so far) back in 2012. http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/Pieowa-Roadtrip-m700883.aspx http://www.roadfood.com/F…-Roadtrip-m700883.aspx
But I noticed that the 1910 Grille restaurant at the Historic Park Inn hotel is now open. The TripAdvisor reviews seem very positive. Anyone been there? I understand it probably isn’t conventional Roadfood, but I am so supportive of the renovation and reopening of the hotel that I would go to the restaurant, as well, if it is good. Once I get back from Latvia, that is.
Thanks.
I loved the Suzie-Q when we were in Mason City. We ended up sitting next to the mayor!
But they (at least at the time) closed at 3 p.m., so one could still go to dinner at the 1910 Grille, especially if staying overnight at the Park Inn.
Wasn’t the Suzie-Q for sale and/or closed recently?
Aha, here it is: http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/Suzie-Qs-in-Mason-City-being-sold-m802075.aspx http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/Suzie-Qs-in-Mason-City-being-sold-m802075.aspx
I did a Google search but didn’t find anything conclusive.
Mason City is a must-stop for us when we go to Minneapolis even though it requires us to go out of the way and adds substantial time to our trip from Cincinnati.
But we go for Suzie-Q Cafe and can't see that changing any time soon. One of my favorite Roadfood joints, recommended by Roadfooders here.
