Toki Ona Diner Basque style food
In this family-owned Basque restaurant, meals are served family-style. All dinners include bread, soup, salad, green beans, spaghetti, and some type of potato. Among the featured entrees are lamb chops and Basque-style pork chops, flavored with plenty of garlic.
The area around Elko, Nevada is known for its Basque food as well as an annual Basque festival. The Toki Ona is a terrific family-style family-owned Basque restaurant.
What should I eat at Toki Ona Diner? The dining room is large and each table is pre-set with heavy white plates and bowls. Each dinner comes with family-style servings of bread, soup, salad, green beans, spaghetti, and some type of potato. We asked the nice waitress for the Basque entrees and she pointed us toward the lamb chops and Basque-style pork chops. These will not disappoint. Everything seems to be served with sauteed garlic: green beans and garlic, lamb piled high with garlic. The Basque-style pork chops were nice and spicy-hot. And all the meats (pork, chicken, and lamb) were tender. The whole meal starts off with a large tureen of homemade chicken rice soup. It was nice to eat an old-fashioned family-style (serve yourself) meal. Excellent overall, with plenty of food. We took the extra pork chops and grilled chicken with us and made sandwiches the next day! *original post by egg curry* |
