Sunrise Inn
Review by: Roadfood Team
Good, low-priced Italian-American fare includes pizzas and pastas; and the menu also features burgers, wings, sandwiches, and yummy garlic chicken. Sunrise Inn Italian-style peppers, available by the jar, are a terrific take-home.
On one of my first trips to my boyfriend’s house here in Warren, OH we had dinner at the Sunrise Inn. This long-standing restaurant has seen multiple expansions and was the first bar in town to have a television set in 1947.
What to eat at Sunrise Inn
At the Sunrise Inn, the menu is mostly Italian fare. Their pizza is unique; it has a hearty red sauce, thickly-sliced pepperoni, and just a mere sprinkling of Parmesan and Romano cheeses. This is my lactose-intolerant boyfriend’s favorite. Personally, I cannot get past the breaded ravioli Parmesan. It’s a treat of deep fried, breaded cheese ravioli served with a side of spaghetti and a delicious red sauce. Just sitting here writing this is making me hungry. I hope we can go there for dinner tonight!

It is a classic all American place. Strewn about were midwest vibes. The walls are riddled with gems as good as the food and service.
Garrett our server was phenomenal. When they ran out of the parmesan ravioli, they helped us select from the bar pizza. As the bartender saw us approach with shark eyes, we still felt welcomed at the joint. Definitely worth the short detour across the tracks.

What a wonderful place! It was packed with locals when we were there. It’s a bit of a diner mixed with an Italian-American (red sauce) restaurant.
We had wedding soup and greens-and-beans soup, both of which were very tasty. For our meal, we had distinctive and yummy sandwiches. I had the Parmesan Punisher, which had three parmesans (veal, chicken, and eggplant) sandwiched between toasty herbed breads along with cheese and sweet roasted red peppers. The sandwich is hearty without being absurd b/c the parms are all pounded thin. My wife got the Meatball Splash, which featured meatballs sandwiched between two pieces of pizza, then covered with sauce. There are many more traditional menu items (lasagna, pizza, the individual parms, etc.) but these novel presentations really caught our attention. This is not a place where everything is excessive or where all the sandwiches have novelty titles. It’s just good, quality food presented by kind servers in a nice neighborhood environment.
