One of the top Sonoran hot dog purveyors in Tucson, Ruiz is basic: a food cart, a small adjacent dining area, and a one-item menu. That item is magnificent, a beautiful cornucopia of bacon-wrapped dog and all the trimmings* stuffed into a creamy-soft bolillo bun that has been toasted to crisp-edged luxury. On the side is a roasted pepper that strikes a fetching balance of sweet and heat.
Three coolers adjacent to the order window are filled with bottles of Coke and soda from Mexico. Help yourself. A bottle opener is hanging on the cart wall.
* All the trimmings = tomato, onion, salsa, beans, mayonnaise, mustard
