Pie
Review by: Jane Stern
****THIS REASTAURANT IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED****
Usually I have no problem making decisions, I immediately know what I want to eat, wear, or watch on TV. I am rarely indecisive … except at Pie.
Pie serves small pies that nestle easily in the palm of your hand. There are sweet pies and savory pies and itty-bitty mini pies as well. I am standing in front of the glass case paralyzed by choices. I want them all.
Possibly some people can order one and be happy, I have ordered 7 or 8 and still feel I have missed the boat. I take my hand pies to a little table outside and place them in a beautiful array.
There are some pies here that are always on the menu. In the savory category you will find Chicken Potpie, Broccoli Cheddar and English Meat Pie. For sweet pies the every popular Key Lime, Strawberry Rhubarb, Berry, Apple and Peanut butter cream are daily.
But here is the dilemma. Pie is very popular and I know people are anxious for me to finish and take my table. What I would like to do is never leave. One look at the rotating list of both sweet and savory pies make me want to pitch a tent and live here.
How can I go one without tasting the Lavender Cream Pie, The buttermilk cream, the gingerbread cream or the sweet potato? Is my life empty without the savories like Honey Ham and Sweet Potato, Pork Adobo, Roasted Harvest Veggie or Mushroom Alfredo.? Dozen and dozens of new pies to taste each day. The idea of a permanent tent is sounding better.
The eight pies lined up before me are consistently great. The whipped cream is exactly that: whipped cream. The coconut cream has big shards of coconut in it. The crusts are flaky and fresh and masterfully made. I love pie and I love Pie.
