Peg Leg Pete’s Oyster Bar

Review by: mayor al

We stopped at Peg Leg Pete’s in Pensacola Beach after hearing excellent reviews from several Roadfood Members about the quality of the seafood and service there. Our friends did not steer us wrong. We visited on Valentines Day, anticipating a bit of a crowd, but we were early enough to avoid the busy dinner rush.

The dining room, inside, was our choice. They offer patio tables also, and many of the afternoon customers chose to sit outside in the breeze. Our table offered a fine view of the beach and the beautiful waters of the Gulf. The service was great. Our server kept the tea coming, and hustled to bring whatever we requested quickly and with a friendly banter that made us feel welcome.

The fresh and Baked Oysters were wonderful. Plenty of that briney taste that makes the Oyster the top of our choice for shellfish. The Crab Claws are so sweet and the breading on them so crispy and light that they have a ‘personality’ all their own.

The entrees were a followup to the appetizers. Fried Shrimp and Oysters with the usual Fries and Slaw beside the seafood. Were we to visit again I think we would just continue with more appetizers. All dishes were very good, but those raw Oysters were hard to top !

Peg Leg Pete’s feature live music in the evenings and a check of their web-site will list the performers for the current month, for those looking for a night-spot with great seafood, this would provide a great evening!
