Moon Rise Cafe

Review by: Roadfood Team

Four star breakfast at the Moon Rise Cafe: Benedicts are graced with elegant hollandaise; pancakes are featherweight and fluffy; the Monte Cristo — grilled, not fried — is divine. Lunch isn’t bad, either! Count on juicy burgers, and freshly made pies. The Moon Rise was voted best breakfast in the South Sound, and it is a well-deserved accolade.

What should I eat at Moon Rise Cafe?

The Benedicts are outstanding, served with a light, lemony hollandaise. The pancakes are huge and fluffy, and the sausage patty is the most generous you will find. Also, the Monte Cristo is a specialty and is grilled instead of fried, which changes a greasy mess into something divine.

The burgers are big and juicy, and the sandwiches are interesting. For those that do not eat meat, the vegetarian sandwiches are just as satisfying. There is usually something tasty for dessert: berry pie, cinnamon rolls, Moon cookies. The owner/chef Christine is always willing to veer from the established menu to whip up something special on request.  The best one is sausage pancakes with homemade raspberry jam and syrup.

Other eats not to miss

If you are lucky enough to come on raspberry scone day, be sure to take a few home with you. There are always jars of homemade jam for sale. They recently added a juice/smoothie bar. Expect a wait if you come around lunch or Saturday morning. The Moon Rise Cafe is not open Sundays and Mondays.

Finally, this is an excellent place to bring guests here whenever they visit or if you are travelling through. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Service is always fast and friendly; it is truly a family place. *Original Post Yuri Button*
