Lobster Shack

Review by: Roadfood Team

With the feel of a quaint seaside cabin, Lobster Shack is the place to indulge in fine clam chowder and abundant lobster rolls.

After you’ve finished a relaxing stroll along the rocky shores of Ogunquit, there’s no better place to satisfy your craving for Maine lobster than the Lobster Shack. It is ideally located in Perkins Cove, an area of shops and restaurants situated on Ogunquit’s beautiful shoreline. Although it is a small restaurant with maybe fifteen benches to seat its patrons, it has the feel of a quaint and cozy seaside cabin, and food that’s been tantalizing enough to fill those benches every summer since 1947.

What to eat at Lobster Shack

For only $13.95, I ordered the lobster roll, which came with potato chips, coleslaw, pickle slices, and a free cup of clam chowder. Everything was great, but the lobster stole the show. The bun was toasted to perfection—golden brown and slightly buttery with just the right amount of crispiness.

The lobster was fresh, chewy, and mind-blowingly delicious. To quench my thirst, I ordered a Sam Adams Summer Ale, but there are many other beers available. They also have a wide variety of other foods on the menu: salads, chili, cheeseburgers, and veggie burgers to name a few. All I can say is that I hope I can make it back to Ogunquit ASAP!

We have been coming to Ogunquit and eating at the shack since Jason’s (the owner) dad owned the place. While presidents and more seem to prefer the entrance to the cove, the real lovers of lobster, steamers, and good conversation come all the way into the cove!

The lobster is ridiculously fresh, the steamer clams can’t be beat, his potato salad rocks, and his pies come from a local bakery. We try to get to Ogunquit twice a year for a week and when we are there, Jason can be assured that we will eat there at least once a day.  Our tradition upon leaving Ogunquit is to come into the cove and get a lobster roll each as our last meal before starting the trek home.

Do NOT miss this gem of Ogunquit!
