Jack’s Donuts

Review by: Roadfood Team

Jack’s Donuts has been making nothing but donuts in the same building since 1961 and they haven’t changed a bit, except for expanding the number of different donuts offered. They are the only place I’ve ever found glazed chocolate yeast donuts using chocolate dough. At $10/dozen these donuts are worth a detour. They are fried daily at several different times, so you might get fresh fried donuts at 2 pm as easily as 7 am.

Few places stay in business for 50+ years at the same spot offering the same product. Once you’ve tasted these extraordinary donuts you will know why. These are yeasty, light, airy donuts fried the old fashioned way, at least the 50 year old way. They melt in your mouth, they are perfect for dunking and are even great warmed up in the microwave a day later.

These are not the same yeast donuts you would get at a chain, a grocery etc. They come in many different configurations. Pictured is the twisted plain and chocolate dough version, but a full line of iced and filled donuts are also available and all equally tasty. You can mix and match all varieties for $10/dozen which would be a bargain if they were your average donut, it’s a steal for these large high quality specimens.
