Coffee Pot Bakery
Review by: Roadfood Team
Perfect after a hard day of fun in Montana
Comfortably situated in a log cabin, The Coffee Pot Bakery Café is a perfect place for pie and coffee. Kick back and relax after a hike up one of Montana’s many peaks, a day fishing one of Montana’s clear, freshwater rivers, or even a rough day at work. This restaurant dishes out comfort food at its finest in the form of towering, voluptuous pies. There is a wide variety, sweet and savory pies. It is best come early so you have your pick of what the bakers have made. When we arrived, we were absolutely ravenous. As a result, we ordered a slice of just about every pie in the case.
What pie should I eat at the Coffee Pot Bakery?
As we stepped up to the ordering stand, which is surrounded by a plethora of hand- thrown pottery and crafts made in the on-premises studio, we crafted an order that included a Mixed Berry Pie, an Apple Pie, a Coconut Cream Pie, and a Chicken Pot Pie.
The Mixed Berry Pie looks almost like a sweet, sticky, deep-blue soup. The crisp, utterly flakey crust breaks up easily among a slowly flowing river of blackberry, blueberry, and raspberry pie filling, creating a luxurious and decadent blend of flavors.
The Apple Pie is just about as good as any Apple Pie can be. The crumbly, graham cracker-like outer layer melds perfectly with the dense, cinnamon-sprinkled, moist apple slices that make up the inside. It is topped with a half-inch layer of light, heavenly crumbs!
The Coconut Cream Pie can be either out-of-this-world delicious, or out-of-this-world disappointing. In the case of The Coffee Pot Bakery Café, it is wonderful. The whipped cream topper lies delicate as a feather atop dense, rich, coconut-laced filling.
Savory chicken pot pie
Of all savory pies, classic Chicken Pot Pie has always held the crown for me. The deep, intense flavors of the gravy engulfing carrots, potatoes, peas, and tender, warm chicken, and seeping into the flakey crust, creating a flavor mix that is sheer comfort food heaven.
