well, last week was pretty much a nightmare. I went to a different spot on monday, and sold nothing. I went back to my normal spot and missed the lunch run around. Tuesday I had a pop inspection from the HD. They showed up in their state car, parked right next to me and came in. I got a 5 minute heads up when they called me and asked where I was, So I panicked a little. lol not that i should have, but still you know what I mean. I had everything going full force, I had my chili, cheese, and steam pans on high getting everything ready.
She came in, washed her hands, and said I had a nice set up. looked at my chili and then turned to me, and I told her no worries, that it was meatless. She didn’t even bat and eye, and said, everything looks to be in order, and she told me that I was approved for my final permit. I was like wow, good to know lol.
About 5 mins later a few ppl came over and checked to see if everything was ok. I was like yea that’s my HD giving me my final approval.
Wednesday – Thurs was dead, I think I sold 10 dogs each day. I threw away more this week then I sold, that’s for damn sure.
Friday I went to a new spot, and sold a soda that was it.
Saturday I was setting up for a HUGE lacrosse tournement that was going on, it was about 20 games going on. I even parked the trailer right in froont of the gate to get on the field the night before so that I could get the best seat, or so I thought. I was totally wrong. I arrive at about 9 am, by 1030, chic fil a was set up pimping chicken sandwiches, which I was fine with since they sponsored it. about 11 right as I was getting ready to set up, I saw someone walking around with a piece of foil in their hands, and sent the woman up to investigate, Sure enough there was a hot dog push cart right at the chic fil a tent. WTF I shouted, no one was going to leave the field now to come to me since there was already a vendor on the field. I was livid at this point as my week sucked a$$ as it was. I went to pack up and go to my back up spot at a gas station and got parked in, I couldn’t get the trailer out or back it up enough to get out. I was stuck there till 9pm. Luckily we brought both SUV’s.
Sunday I set up at the gas station and had my helper run the show as I was going to run around getting things done. We snuck up and watched him give away a hot dog to a friend of his and didn’t say anything to him, He told me about it, but said he paid for it. However since he didn’t leave my eye sight, I know he didn’t go near the cash box to put the money in. I read his notes, saying he gave away 2 Qp’s to the gas s tation attendent, Ate 2 regular dogs, and sold 3. There were 2 jumbos on the pan when I went to look and 3 smalls, he ended up taking the 2 jumbos and trading them for a pizza later. I didn’t realize this till after he was gone. I have to say my losses this week were beyound acceptable , I lost more than I made I think this week. UGH.
However I will not be letting anyone run the stand anymore till I figure out the easiest way to track my food. I can’t lose anymore like that or i’ll be in trouble.
the only good thing this week was the catering gig I did, It was an hour long, 20 kids, and a fast $150 in my pocket. I can’t say I even made that much during the remaining week.
My thoughts are, I will give my spot a longer chance, and then I will have to move on.
My question, How many days should I give the normal spot before I ditch it and move on ??? Thoughts ?
