Ok, So I started last saturday, We all know what happened that day. Got threatened and cussed out. lol

I’ve chose a location for during the week that has been decent, I open at 11 and close at 4. Takes me about 30 mins to set up and get things ready to go including all cooking. My breakdown is smooth and quick. I usually have my rig wiped down and cleaned out including all my dishes done within 30 mins as well.

Monday was my first day there, and got alot of looks and people stopping by to check me out and buy a soda.

Tuesday wasn’t bad, I got about 20 or so dogs out and various drinks and chips.

Wednesday I got cussed out by a food vendor who is far enough away from me that I wouldn’t effect his sales…

Thursday I talk to my customers about it and they say that guy does little business b/c he is dirty, his trailer is dirty, and his food sucks.

Friday, I introduce my combo to increase sales, and it worked. I sell a 1/4 a bag of chips & a drink for $5.50

Friday night, I go out and sit across the street from a popular bar after the understanding that I am over 101 feet away. No worries I put out 6 dogs in my first hour and about 2 hours later, I get shut down. Apparently the they rent the property across the street on the weekends for overflow parking.  WHO KNEW  lol.  So I call them to apologize and see if we can work something out and they were receptive to talk about it so that’s not bad. I def don’t wanna step on anyone’s toes.

I got alot of compliments on my set up, and how clean I was and my trailer and how great the food tastes. Where I set up is right in front of a training facility and they rotate every 2 weeks, Not to mention all the other offices up there too and businesses.

I haven’t advertised nor have I had any street signs up letting people know I am there, it’s all been word of mouth. So far that has worked for me. I averaged about 20 dogs a day + sodas + chips, and combo’s too. My weekly take after all the restocking and the ice i bought, my take was not bad. It was an acceptable week as I learned my rig.

I plan on making some signs up this weekend so I can sit them out on the strip letting people know where I am, plus pass out some fliers to the other businesses around letting them know I am there.

I plan on hitting another location next week and try that out for the week, and my customers know that, kinda funny how word gets around.

I want to spread myself around and see where the money is at. So i want to be in a different location for each week of the month to see where it takes me.  that way I can schedule where I’ll be and move around so people don’t get burned out on dogs. lol if that’s even possible.

Any suggestions, or thoughts or anything that might help improve flow ? I’m looking to ramp it up this week with actual advertising and see where that takes me. Also I got my first catering gig for a non profit kids group, it’s about 20 kids in a public place for their 2nd grade graduation party, and they are giving me $150 for an hour. I have most of the stock on hand for drinks and snacks, I just gotta buy 20 regular hot dogs and rolls, should run me about $35 for that. I am doing the gig for the kids, and the fact that they raised the money for the party themselves. Plus anything that I sell to the public while I’m there I plan on donating back a % to the non profit group but haven’t told them and want it to be a surprise.
