Hello! I am new to California. Just moved to San Diego from Portland, Oregon. I was a personal trainer in Portland, and I am ready to do something different. I am VERY interested in getting into the hot dog vending business.
I have spent the last couple of weeks doing research about the permits and licenses needed for San Diego county… but I seem to get to dead ends, and people that work for the city wont give me straight answers. [:(!]
I had an idealistic dream of being able to be on the boardwalk in Pacific Beach in the sunshine selling hot dogs. However, I don’t think that it is legal. I don’t see ANYONE else with a mobile food cart. There’s only stationary small shacks that are at all in the same industry.
I was talking to a guy from MBS, who I have later found rip-off reports on, who suggested that I work festivals every weekend. That idea then sounded even better!!
So here’s my problem. I don’t have ANY experience in the hot dog/mobile vending industry. But I’m ready to hit the ground running. I don’t have any other commitments and I have some start up capital.
Is there anyone in the southern California that has a mobile vending cart? That would like to be my mentor? I need a seasoned vet to teach me how this all works. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to also get some hands on experience working at a festival too!!
