As a New England native, finding any sort of decent seafood in central PA is a sticky wicket. But I had a swell fishwich last night at The Fence in Milton–near Lewisburg.
Yes, it was deep-fried (seemingly the only way people eat fish here) haddock (and that’s pronounced to rhyme with “bad dock”, not “haddick,” the way the rest of the world says it). But the food was scrumptious. Real filet, shaped almost like a hot dog on a decent bun with maybe the best tartar sauce (made on premises) I have ever had. Fresh-cut fries on the side (malt vinegar available). Basket was a clean and easy $5.55.
Much,much better than I expected.
