too many people with too much money & too much time let their kids do too many stupid things.

ABSOLUTELY!—more money then brains!—-spend more TIME with them not cash. The whole idea of giving your sixteen yr old—or  ANY age for that matter– a 40 ft world class sail boat before they have ever had a JOB is insane. I remember telling my dad–“I need a car!”, to which he replied–“no you WANT a car. What you need is a JOB!”
