I needed some veggies and fruit as well as some items for our Memorial Day Neighborhood Block BBQ so I went to my favorite Persian market, the Crown Valley Market. I bought fresh dill, fennel, Persian cucumbers, plain yogurt, shallots, fresh pita bread and more. On the way out, I stopped at the grill they have on the weekends done by the Persian restaurant, Bahar, upstairs from the market. I ordered the special, two skewers of ground chicken and ground beef koobideh, served with grilled tomato, fresh herbs and the bakery specialty, fresh sanjak bread.

My order hot off the grill

the grilled chicken, tomato and beef
placed on a strip of fresh sanjak bread and ready to roll and eat
I love this food! I shop a lot at this market, excellent produce, good meats, grape seed oil, baklava and fresh sanjak bread from the bakery and all sorts of other Middle Eastern goodies. What an awesome lunch!
