When it comes to home soups, I resort to comfort food: chicken noodle combined with something like campbells chicken and rice or stars. These things happen on the days I do not care to make soup.
 
Normally, I make my own and let heavy herbs, spices, and flavors carry the soup instead of salt. Most of my soups have a kick that makes most sane people forget about salt. My wife is a stickler for salt, so I use it sparingly. But sea salt is good.
