Im not sure who told you needed serv safe course to sell hot dogs ..but you don’t. Now if you start making items to sell then yes. But it’s good to have..it’s just sad to waste the money. Now for the sad and hard part for you my friend. What they didn’t tell you and don’t tell you unless you ask..much like a used car salesman is that you are going to have to wait another month for your lic “once you get the paper work completed” So your looking at least 2 months from the time you started to you get your lic and sticker for inspection. It’s a crime in every way. They take that 600 plus dollars but can’t fex ex you your lic and sticker…all a bull sh it scam.
Now have you found your spots. Can you set up there? Are they city or county or private. If private you ok without insurance, if it’s county or city you will need to be insured. That runs you anywhere from 300 to 250 per say. And if you work in another town just down the road at a festivals you’ll need to call your insurance company and make sure the town is listed and the coverage covers the 1 million dollar mandatory policy.
And last but not least don’t be cheap go with high end product. You only get one shot to impress someone to buy from you. And you are a salesman. If you don’t look clean, smell clean, and act professionally you will lose potential customers..plain and simple.
This is just a small snippet of the real world of hot dogs. Work hard 7 days a week and you’ll make it..if you fall for that 4hrs a day and you’ll make 50 grand a year and you’ll be like a lot of people..your cart will be up for sale in three months. IF you have a job “KEEP IT”..that is steady money coming in. IF you don’t have a job “GET ONE” ..you need some steady income…get a job walmart or pizza maker or anywhere where they can work with your days and hours. In six months or so you can quit. that job will make it a lot easier to fall asleep at night, when you thinking..”man I only sold 30 dogs today..and the rents due in two weeks.”
That’s it for now I hope I opened your eyes and kept the burn to be a hot dog vendor alive..if what I said has brought you down or put doubt in your heart…then work full time and sell hot dogs on weekends and use it as extra income. You wont make it..you got to do everything when your working for yourself. OH big big IMPORTANT thing to KNOW..you got to pay SSI on BOTH ENDS…so that means 15% + 7% + another 5 or 6% depending on city or county. Oh the newest little scams for art festivals and fairs…they want you to ‘DONATE” 10% on top of your space fee..to make people do more charity work..LMAO…typical hyprocrite liberal bull sh it. So be ready with some of these people you could have to give up more than 30% of your income before gas, hotel, and food.
Just a heads up when you go into festivals and fairs.. there all fixed in one way or another.
Better to stick to sites you can work on the week days and then do weekend nites or parks or something.
Good Luck I hope this helped
