Have you tried allopurinol?

My doc told me about Allopurinol but I decided to go with Colcrys for a “short term” fix. It worked but, at least I know about Allopurinol for the long term if needed.

I sure do miss my oysters, though. And btw, It was that meal of three dozen delicious Texas Gulf oysters (on special for $4.99 per dozen) I ate that caused my gout to flare up.

A question: Can one safely eat foods high in uric acid (oysters, anchovies, liver) if one is on a regular regimen of Allopurinol?

I’ve been on allopurinol for at least four years and haven’t had a recurrence since starting on it. I eat liver, anchovies, roasted and fried oysters, sardines, etc.
