Jerry,
having built 5 different carts just would like to know how much of the work you did yourself.
I would get the sheets in, and job out the cutting, bending and such. We just put(assembled) things
together. I still have the CAD drawings.
Curby
Curby-We did everything. I built built the cart using 1/4″ inch skin. Painted everything in and out. We (my son-in-law) then covered everything with stainless steel. The cart would have been ready to go without the SS. Would of had to put on dressier paint job, as I only put a sealer coat on. Being a sheet metal worker, he has almost a complete shop. Has equipment to bend a full 10′ sheet. All edges have a ‘hem’. That’s 1/2-1″ folded over on each edge, so no sharp edges. I have had a lot of questions on how somebody could build their own, even had a couple of requests to build. I think it would be pretty difficult to do-it-yourself without all the equipment and having a journeyman sheet metal worker available as I was lucky to have. It took us about 2 months working part time. You have the right idea. Build the basic cart and farm out the difficult SS part. I didn’t say, but all substructure is 2×2 wood. Hope I didn’t over answer.
