Go with the shaved ice. We just received our machine last Friday from 1-800-shavedice. We purchased the Hatsuyuki HC-8E with the budget starter package. This package is more than suitable for mobile vendors. The machine works like a charm. Only thing is the instructions tell you to turn the blade adjustment knob clockwise until it stops. It won t stop it will fall off. They meant to say counter-clockwise. Other than that we are really pleased with the package. We are also going to serve lemon shakes-ups and probably a hotdog. We live in Georgia and decided we could do better at festivals and events with cold items. Some events we will only serve shaved ice and drinks and at others we will add a food item like a hotdog / sausage. The Hatsuyuki HC-8e uses cubed ice which is a lot easier to find than block ice. The only downside with shaved ice and snow-cones is that you need to be able to store ice for the day. We installed a 7CF freezer in our trailer. Another option is to buy Coleman Extreme Coolers. We have used these coolers in the past and they work get. We have keep ice frozen for 24 hours in them. We highly recommend these coolers and in the past have used one for perishables, one for meats and the other for drinks.
