Go to the meetings and voice you opinion.
Ask questions:
- [*]If only 5 vending licenses, then why a high $1200/yr fee? … What is the town’s cost related to the fee?[*]Will these new licenses be renewable or by lottery drawing each year? (this is not good)[*]You were there first, indicate that you would be very disappointed if you lost the business & income you built up because of the 5 license restriction & lottery; and that Legal council & action against the town will be a consideration. Title 42 USC 1983 suite ???[*]I believe you now have a city license, is it renewable? … If so specifically state you expect to continue to operate under that license and/or it be directly transferred without restrictions to the new license and be renewable.[*]Will the new ordinance apply to city owned property only or include private property too? … If city property only, then on private property, … no vendor license, just maybe a city business license.[*]Will semi-permanent “food trailer” on private or leased property also be required to comply with this new ordinance? … Are there any existing food business in the city now serving from trailers? This could galvanize these business owners to be on your side. … If not then maybe you could then move to a food trailer on private property.[*]At festivals, homecoming, & block party will a vendor fee be required for ALL vendors, if so how much? $1200 is too much for a 1 or 2 day event. … [*]Would there be any restriction on the number of vendors for above special events? The new ordinance only allows 5 vendors.[*]Will vendors be exempt from HD inspections at special events? … OR, will ALL vendors be required to pass and comply with ALL HD regulations?
These and other questions/answers need to be in the minutes. If there is a problem for you later, then maybe the cause for a legal action can be proven. And the town council give you misleading information. … There could be a hidden agenda behind this ordinance now. … Maybe a couple of Council member’s relatives want to take over the vendor licenses and sales. This might be a good question to directly put to the Council! [style=”color: #ff0000;”]Will any Council Member or his relatives seek any of the limited vendor licenses? [/style] …. A conflict of interest situation! … And will put the council on notice to insure this does not happen.
