Salerno’s Deli in Torrington, CT is my favorite Deli ever.  They offer a choice of grinder roll, hard roll or Milite’s Italian bread; which is a very crusty and dense bread.  I think the Italian bread is really what makes the sandwich. 

I would make this a definite stop, and you can go eat somewhere outside.  Pay the extra $1 for the Italian Bread.  They also have fantastic soups; if the Chicken Chowder is on the menu I order it every time.

They have a fantastic list of Specialty Sandwiches, my favorite is the Diavolo.
