I can’t believe I’m posting about pretzels, BUT when it comes to Mr. Salty, it has to be done.
A few weeks ago we were in a Publix grocery store in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. I spotted a box of pretzels called Salty Stix. Immediately I grab them and say to my husband, "Oh my God. I bet these are Mr. Salty’s! Remember them?"
He wasn’t familiar; he grew up in New Jersey and I grew up in western Pennsylvania.
Anyway, I bought three boxes. I figured if they were Mr. Salty’s, my sister and Mom would want a box too.
Well, lo and behold, I opened them and not only were they visually identical, but they tasted identical too.
They are made by Shulz in Hanover, PA and I’ve enclosed a link to a page on their website for the product I found in Ft. Myers.
I was reminded today that Mr. Salty was made by Nabisco a tidbit of information I had forgotten over the last thirty years or so.
Some people say UTZ’s are close, others say Bachman’s are….I say "None of the above." The closest pretzel I’ve ever had to a Mr. Salty, is Salty Stix. . .and hopefully you’ll find a box in your grocers.
Try ’em. You decide and let me know. . .
