There is a neat little roadside park/overlook in Shoals that we have been known to take a sandwich to.  Pretty good road in much better shape than the interstates around here.  Bedford is a bit of a pain as is Seymour Traffic/stoplight wise.  I did drive past quite a few potentially interesting food stops but we were on a bit of a schedule.
