Ed – I was asking more to do with the storage conditions for the dogs. I know they are pre-cooked, but they do need to be refrigerated don’t they? I’m just wondering about the logistics and risks associated with getting them over to the UK.
oops …. sorry, I miss understood …… Yes the hot dog is precooked and can be eaten straight out of the package. … In the US they are vacuum packaged and when kept near 32 deg F, they will last past the “sell date” on the store shelf. But when the package starts loosening or puffing, do not use. The meat is gassing and spoiling because of being old or poor storage.
I think in your case if importing the hot dogs, they will have to be frozen until needed for use. Just mark the date on the package when freezing and will keep for several months.
