It is ironic isn’t it? I’m not one of those guys, I call my congress critters, donate to who I feel are the good guys and at least make an attempt to be involved.
But in regards to these HD’s, most are just following the laws passed down from above. There is no real thought process involved, it is what it is. I do know that here in MI, at least from talking with my HD, they seem to be very willing to work with businesses. I think that the economy is having an negative effect on their bottom line, the fewer establishments the less need for one of them to be employed. When I went in for a meeting not long ago I found them to be very interested in what I was doing and an honest willingness to actually work with me and not against me. Which is odd after coming from 20 years in the transportation business where we were nothing more than a cash cow to be sliced and diced at will when their kitty ran low.
The real change will need to come by petition from the industry or community to make any changes. The big chains seem to rule in regards to many of these regulations we face today. And trying to explain to people the problems we face just fall on deaf ears, just as they do when the insidious rules and regs we faced in the transportation industry are discussed. Their eyes glaze over and that is all she wrote.
