Since I was a kid I have always had a bit of time going and meeting new people. Now at my cart I am fine I smile and welcome folks with good nature fun and triva topics while my customers wait for a dog to be ready. But what I have a heck of a time is going into a business..store front lets say and introduce myself and ask or inquire about setting up my cart. I really need to get over this..but I am shy and I need the help of fellow hot doggers about how they introduce themselves the first time to a person that owns or manages a spot or area that you like to try out. I like to get some nite time spots though I can’t be open beyond 1am unless I get an exemption from the city. But first I need help in how to phrase a introduction and a response if they say well Im not sure..what do I get from it or so on.
Thanks as always
The others gave some great advice. I was always a little nervous walking into a business’s as well. I remember one time that stands out. I approached a Harley Davidson dealership that set up shows in the front a few times a year. I walked in and handed one of the managers my card, and he said this was a great idea. He started to take me to the head managers office to have me talk to him directly. As I approached the office he slammed the door shut on me. He had heard the conversation and was not interested.
I walked out of the dealership, and could not stop smiling/laughing about it. A few years ago I would have been so angry. I never would have thought I can turn a negative situation into something funny. I guess I just pictured something like that happening on a sitcom.
I told myself that these are the experiences I need to go through to make it in this biz. We have to be able to accept rejection as the others have said. Once you get the first few out of the way, and realize everyone isn’t nice, it will get easier. But as another post said. Soon people will be approaching you for gigs.
