Good post with what I think is one exception. I think what you designate as ‘simple questions’ aren’t so simple to newbies. It was very difficult for me and other non-savvy computer people to navigate this place. The first time I searched for info on nachos, a bunch of posts were listed. I started with the top one and after going thru 16 entries, nachos came up as a line on someone’s menu. I admit I’m not very good at searching and at that time didn’t know enough to word the search more effectively. It was about 2 months after my first post that I actually was able to open my cart. Would of been much longer without the help I got here. Believe me, I asked a lot of simple questions. Some of the
‘natives’ might of got upset, but the ones that didn’t sure helped me along the way and they’re the ones I respect. So if someone comes on here and ask what you think might be an unworthy question, just don’t open the thread. Let’s not intimidate the people that are new.
Hope you don’t take offense, just my thoughts. Sounds like you’re doing a great job. I’m just starting my 6th week and lovin it.
Well said Tasty. But the title to the very first thread is “Read before posting”. If a newcomer would click on that they would find a very good FAQ thread. I have to admit I didn’t read that first when I found this site and I have been one of those who has barked “use the search first!!”. But then I got to thinking, how is that really helping anyone with that kind of an attitude? I have a feeling most people who find the site look around before registering and so they have an idea of the layout here. I’ll be the first to say that I don’t have the most timid temper here sometimes but I have tried to tone it down. I myself find more rookie members “come out” when there isn’t a battle between more veteran members. So I’ll just try and help anyone who I can regardless of the question. DD
