Glad you made it to D’elia’s. I have the cooked salami grinder with oil, s & p. It is not overwhelmingly thick with meat. I think it is a good balance of salami, provolone, lettuce, and tomato. Try one that way (no mayo!), and maybe order one with extra meat. I’ve never had a hot grinder there, but it looks wonderful. They are an old Italian family-owned business, so they should have a really good tomato sauce recipe! I sometimes buy bread to take home, too.
