Close to Waukegan is Wadsworth, IL.  One of my favorites is a restaurant on Rte 41 and Wadsworth Rd called The Shanty.  It has great food at reasonable prices and was featured on triple D.  Hope you get a chance to go there.  They also have a website with a menu.
