I would still send a message here to chicagostyledog, just to see if he can help in any way. Perhaps he would know who to get in touch with, if you decide you want Vienna Beef over Sabrett’s or another brand. He might have cart ideas, as well.
I’ll be glad to help you with the Web 2.0 stuff. I’ve made the offer several times to people here, and a few have taken me up on it. 🙂

1. You should start a blog, now not later, detailing what you’re doing to get this venture started. The angst! The excitement! Just because I am so fascinated by a hot dog cart in London, I want to read what you’re doing and how you’re doing on a more regular basis than just a random thread here. You could link your Facebook or Twitter to your blog, too, because I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s curious. I am hoping for the best for you.
2. This is a random question, one I’ve often wondered about the people manning their solo carts…how, exactly, does one (in your parlance) use the loo? Is there one you use near the cart? If so – who’s watching the cart while you go? Do men have a small bucket hidden somewhere? Not very sanitary, not to mention not private! I wouldn’t be able to buy a hot dog from a guy I just saw holding his own…err…hot dog [huh]….a minute before! Even with hand sanitizer afterwards!
Sorry to bring it up, but you said you’re going to be solo, and you’re going to be there for most of the day.
Hey X1 thanks for those thoughts – you really give with one hand and take away with the other!!! I had never thought about going to the loo and you had me worried; especially since it is stipulated that I cannot leave the cart unattended!
Fortunately though, I feel you have also provided a solution: From the ideas you have given me re. the blog and web 2.0 I feel fairly sure I’m going to be selling a lot of hot dogs and may well need another pair of hands to help me eventually. The short term solution will be just leaving it for a couple of minutes under the watch of the coffee vendor that has the pitch right next to me. I’m sure even Hackney Council wouldn’t expect me to hold it in for 8 hours!!!
I truly don’t know how to thank you enough X1, do you mind if I PM you in a bit? I’ve been up since 5 am, I can’t sleep since I am so excited by the possibilities.
