ya what i was wondering is if the kitchen space is built into those O’rourkes and O’Mahoney cars. Or is the kitchen area something you build on to it? In that one pic def looks like a big new kitchen in it…looks like an add on.
The only one we had here in Springfield was truly a classic. When you walked in the front door there were stools (attached to the floor) and a long counter. Right behind the counter was an all stainless steel kitchen line that ran the length of the counter. So you saw everything the cook did. And the sink was right there, as well. You virtually ate and watched a pretty neat show if they were busy.
It had a sign right at the top center of the back wall that said the builder companies name ( i don’t remember what it was) and below that “High Speed Grill” It was very cool, until they built a brick face onto the structure and later built several dining rooms and moved most of the kitchen into another add on section, behind the original food line.
I went to the auction before they tore it all down but I wasn’t sharp enough to buy the kitchen wall with the name plate and all. It was bought by a local scrap dealer for little or no money ($5.00 if I remember correctly) and sold as junk. Today it would sell on Ebay in a heartbeat.
