Stubby…… Pick up that damn phone and take phone orders!
50% of my sales are call in orders.
You need to cook, answer the phone, make change, and carry on small talk with the people that are waiting.
I do it every day…. no big deal. People call in, tell them it’s 5 min…or they say I’ll be there in 15… If i’m busy… I tell them theres 8 orders ahead of you, it’d going to be 20 min…. or what ever the wait is….
They don’t have a problem waiting for food….If I’m backed up with phone in;s, and someone pulls up and orders, I tell them it will be a few, I’m swamped with phone in’s…….
I sometimes think that I pissed someone off, having to wait 10 min for their sandwich on a busy day…. but then they are back a couple of days later…
I stress the fact that it is best to call ahead th all new people.
Most of the time, the food is ready as they arrive… Take the phone ins…. ask how long til they will be there…
