I agree the BGE does it all including being able to get to very high temps for pizza
But to the OP, my suggestion for a low cost smoker would be the WSM. It will reward you with bbq as good as any commercial joint. I cooked on mine (and still do when I need the extra capacity) for over 10 years until I got my BGE last year.
